Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn Team Up for Daddy's Home

Vince Vaughn?s film career has certainly had its share of highs and lows. He broke through early on with a memorable (and endlessly quotable) performance in ?Swingers,? but followed that with a series of dramatic roles in poorly received movies (the ?Psycho? remake). Then ?Old School? came along, which showed him following through on the comedic promise that he showcased in ?Swingers.? His career came to an apex with 2005?s ?Wedding Crashers? which was the surprise hit of that summer. Unfortunately, he?d soon follow that up with formulaic romantic comedies (?The Break-Up?), lame Christmas movies (?Fred Claus?), and whatever ?The Watch? was supposed to be. But he?s got ?The Internship,? which comes out next month, and it sees him collaborating with Owen Wilson for the first time since 'Crashers.' Could this be the beginning of another high, or simply another dud? Well, Paramount Pictures is hoping it?s the former.

They have recently announced that Vince Vaughn will be joining Will Ferrell in the upcoming comedy ?Daddy?s Home.? The film, which is set to be directed by Etan Cohen, tells the story of ?a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife?s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father (Vaughn) arrives, forcing stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids.? The film will be produced by Ferrell and Adam McKay?s Gary Sanchez Productions.

It will be Etan Cohen?s directorial debut, a screenwriter best known for such works as ?Men in Black 3,? with co-writing credits on ?Tropic Thunder? and ?Idiocracy.? So, it remains to be seen what Cohen can bring to the comedy as a director, but if Vaughn and Ferrell are at the top of their game, then his life should be much easier.
